Big support for little people

Welcome to my therapeutic play practice, I’m so glad you’re here. With almost three decades worth of experience working with children and young people, I understand just how powerful play can be in helping children explore their emotions, overcome challenges and grow in confidence. Every child is unique and my approach is rooted in creating a safe nurturing space, where children can express themselves freely and feel truly heard.

Sensory play is particularly useful as a tool for emotional regulation for children with additional needs. I offer guided sensory play sessions to understand how your child processes sensory input, and to explore how best to support them going forward.

Children’s play is not mere sport. It is full of meaning and import - F. Froebel

Therapeutic play is a specialised, effective and developmentally appropriate form of therapeutic intervention that allows children to express themselves, process emotions and work through challenges using play and creative activities in a safe environment.

Explore what I offer

All children explore the world through their senses, which informs brain development. Children with emerging sensory needs benefit from sensory play opportunities which allow them to process the world around them how they need to.

Guided sensory play offers an insight into how your child learns and allows me to make recommendations which will help your child to stay regulated and engaged.

Testimonials from parents and carers

We are incredibly grateful for the support our son has received from Jess Holbrook over the past 5 years. He was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder when he was 8. He has always found organisation difficult however, as parents, we were particularly concerned about his low self esteem. From the very first session it was clear that Jess understood the challenges a child with ADD experiences. She was able to tailor her support for the unique personality and emotional needs of our son.

Most importantly, the sessions have helped our son feel proud of himself. His confidence has grown and he is able to acknowledge his difference but also talk about his strengths.

What really stands out is Jess’ warmth and patience. She has created a safe, fun, and genuinely supportive space where our son has felt understood and valued. The communication with us as parents has also been outstanding; we always felt involved, informed, and reassured.

We cannot recommend Jess highly enough. Her expertise and kindness have made a remarkable difference to our son’s life, and we are deeply thankful for the positive changes we have seen.
